Dato’ Setia Haji Mohd Tamyes bin Abd. Wahid

Dato’ Setia Haji Mohd Tamyes bin Abd Wahid, he currently the Mufti of Selangor, was born in Kampung Parit 4 ½ Barat, Sungai Besar, Sabak Bernam, Selangor.
After completing his education in a Malay School, he continued his studies at the Ma’ahad Ehyaul Falah, Sungai Besar where he obtained the Rabie’ Thanawi Certificate (Jayyid) at the end of 1969. He proceeded to further his studies at the University of Al-Azhar, Egypt where he graduated with the Bachelor of Syariah degree in July 1977.
In October 1977, he entered the Faculty of Education, University of Ain Syams, at Cairo in Egypt where he obtained the Diploma in Education in Arabic Language in 1978. He began his career as a Lecturer at the Faculty of Islamic Studies, UiTM in July 1979. He later became Principal in a number of prestigious Islamic Schools in Selangor. He became the Mufti of Selangor in 1998.
For years on end, S.S Dato’ Seri Setia Haji Tamyes has been involved in numerous public services activities. Currently his sits on such committees as the Ahli Jawantankuasa Fatwa Kebangsaan, the Ahli Dewan Diraja Selangor, the Ahli Jawantankuasa Majlis Agama Islam Selangor (MAIS), the Ahli Jawantankuasa Lembaga Teks Al-Quran KDN, the Ahli Jawatankuasa Bahan-Bahan Berunsur Islam KDN, the Ahli Jawatankuasa Tadbir Masjid Negeri, the Ahli Jawantankuasa Kecil Baitulmal MAIS, the Ahli Jawatankuasa Kecil Pelaburan MAIS and the Ahli Jawatankuasa Kecil Wakaf MAIS.
In addition to these, S.S Dato’ Seri Setia Haji Tamyes also acts as Chairman of the Jawatankuasa Fatwa Negeri Selangor as well as the Jawatankuasa Kod Etika dan Nilai-Nilai Murni Pejabat Setiausaha Kerajaan Selangor. For his numerous services to society, S.S Dato’ Seri Setia Haji Tamyes received a number of awards from His Royal Highness Sultan Selangor. In 1997, he was awarded the Pingat Pekerti Terpilih (PPT). In 2000, His Royal Highness conferred upon him the Dato’ Paduka Mahkota Selangor (DPMS). In 2004 he was bestowed the title of Dato’ Seri Setia by the Sultan.
