Mohd Irwan bin Abu Zahar

Mohd Irwan Bin Abu Zahar is a graduate of the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), where he obtained both a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Shariah Laws (LLB & LLB_S).

During his studies, he gained extensive knowledge in various areas of law, including Islamic Property Law, Probate and Succession Law, Islamic Legal System, Civil and Criminal Law, Public International Law, Transactions in Islamic Law, Usul al-Fiqh, as well as Evidence and Procedures in the Syariah Court. His academic background also covered Quranic verses and Hadith related to legal principles and applications.

He has extensive experience in Islamic estate planning and administration, including the preparation of legal documentation for Islamic Wills and Trusts, administration of Muslim estates, and the conduct of training programmes related to Islamic estate planning. Since 2008, he has also been actively involved in training Islamic Estate Planners and delivering public talks and educational sessions on Islamic estate planning.

His areas of expertise include Islamic Succession Law and various Shariah-compliant instruments related to estate planning and administration.

Throughout his career with as-Salihin Trustee Berhad, he has held several key positions. He served as Head of Legal & Documentation Department (Financial Institutions) until 2020, followed by his appointment as Head of Business Support Department until 2022. From November 2022 to May 2025, he served as the Central Regional Manager.

He currently serves as the Head of Trust Administration & Small Estate Department, overseeing matters relating to trust administration and estate administration.

In addition, he also serves as the Secretariat to the Shariah Advisory Board of as-Salihin Trustee Berhad, supporting the company’s Shariah governance and implementation.
